Russia/India : The $2.3 billion aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya has been inducted into the Indian Navy .This has brought India in elite
group of nation hence enhancing India’s maritime capabilities.
India's Defence Minister AK Antony and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin along with senior government and defence
official of both the nation attended the 44,500-tonne warship commissioning into the Indian Navy at the Sevmash Shipyard,India.
During Indian traditional ritual a coconut was broken against the ship's side. This was followed by lowering of Russian Flag and raising on Indian National Flag.
The INS Vikramaditya warship with a length of 284 metres will have Kamov 31 and Kamov 28 anti-submarine warfare , maritime surveillance helicopters as well as MiG-29K naval combat aircraft services avaliable on it.TheUSD 1.5 billion contract for retrofitting the carrier and buying 16 MiG-29K, K/UB deck-based fighters was signed in 2004 between India and Russia .
But there happen a little disturbance in bilateral relations between India and Russia due to some reasonRussia was not going to the radically redesigned vessel INS Vikramaditya.
